Thirty-two-year-old IT consultant Tommy Godolphin has been on a series of blind dates, as he doesn’t want to be single any more. None of the dates, however, really hits the spot, and the latest one has proven a complete, if amusing, disaster. When Tommy recounts what happened to his best friend, Jacob, he expects Jacob to laugh with him as usual, but this time the man doesn’t.
Instead, Jacob challenges Tommy to go on a blind date with him, to see what, if anything, he might be doing wrong. The evening brings several surprises for them both, but in the morning, what will happen to their friendship?
Review:
Tommy’s Blind Date is a delightful and steamy short story that is close to perfection. It’s a quick, delicious bite with an incredibly hot sex scene, wonderful tension, and characters that are by turns funny and interesting. The unique British flair to Brooke’s writing is always an added bonus and this is easily one of my favorites from an author with a considerable short story back list.
As the summary indicates Thomas Godolphin is having a lot of trouble with his blind dates so his best friend Jacob decides to challenge Tommy to a blind date with him. What starts as a lark for Tommy turns serious and exciting when exposed to the persona Jacob adopts for the evening. The sexual tension between the two sparks immediately and carries through wonderfully to a steamy sex scene that is sure to have some readers squirming. The sensuality builds from the obvious moments to the small details as the date plays out.
This is a real skill to produce such palpable chemistry between the pages. Tommy’s response to the new personality from his best friend is exciting and well crafted. You can practically feel the sparks fly between the two. They don’t have the wittiest banter or quick come backs but their conversation is laced with blatant statements and innuendo. Jacob makes it clear what he wants and Thomas responds eagerly.
The British flair to the writing is always a real treat when reading a Brooke story. The prose and writing is always clean without extraneous descriptions but packs a lot into the few choices. This also helps set the story apart from the many, many short erotica offerings. My only real concern is that the actions, dialogue, and command Jacob presents on the date is what really turns Thomas on, although he always cared for their friendship. Jacob initially presents this as just an act but there’s no real mention if Jacob had merely hid that side or if it’s really an act. If it was just Jacob acting then I’m not sure how well suited the two are for an actual relationship. I think Thomas would lose interest if Jacob wasn’t the commanding, confident individual he presented.
Either way this is well worth the few dollars for an incredibly sexy story filled with wonderful tension and entertaining characters.

Many thanks, Kassa – I’m really thrilled you enjoyed the story! Anne xxx
Welcome! I honestly was thrilled with it and enjoyed it a lot. Thank you!
I enjoyed this one too. It was amusing to watch Tommy set back on his heels by the “new and improved” Jacob.
Yes! I thought it was a cute switch.
You’ve definitely persuaded me to buy this one, Kassa – great review!
